As an equipment manufacturing company serving a variety of industries, it goes hand in hand with a variety of options. These industries include, but are not limited to, coatings, biofuels, agriculture, chemicals, brewing, distillation, food, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and more. A significant portion of these industries are mixing their products in tanks. Therefore, a tank mixer is very necessary. Tank mixers are also commonly referred to as tank mixers. If you've been looking for a company with expertise in tank mixers in your industry, look no further. In this post, we'll explore a range of tank mixer options. This will include a larger view of top entry mixers such as flange mount mixers, plate mount mixers and triple clamp mixers.

Top Entry Mixers

Top entry mixers are often the most commonly used tank mixer. This is largely do to the fact that top entry mixers are designed and equipped to handle large applications. Not only can they handle large applications, they are also highly efficient in mixing high viscosity fluids. The top entry mixer’s 5:1 gearbox provides worm gear reduction and creates the torque necessary for large viscous applications. What distinguishes top entry mixers from one another is usually found in the the type of mount. Three common mount types include flange mounts, trip clamp mounts, and plate mounts.

Flange Mount Mixers

Flange mount mixers are incredibly appealing due to their convenient design for heavy duty applications. The flange mount is convenient due to its ability to be installed in a fixed position to existing fittings. Flange mount mixers will attach to a variety of different sized fittings from 1.5” to 12” ANSI flanges. However, these fittings are most commonly for a 2.5” 150# ANSI flange. (An “ANSI” flange simply means that it meets the norms and guidelines of the American National Standards Institute.) Another appealing aspect of the flange mount mixer is found in that it closes off the fitting to the tank. This prevents any sort of contamination from entering your mixing process through the tank fitting. This is because flange mount mixers include a seal. These seals are made of polymers such as teflon, buna, Kalrez, and more. A Mixer Direct Flange Mount Mixer will include an extra mounted support bearing, all welded construction, and a durable powder coating. Flange mount mixers are also capable of being highly customized for a specific applications. Customization options can include a variety of impellers, particular length shafts, and multiple gear ratios. Other options can include types of motors and horsepower such as electric direct drive, air direct drive, variable speed direct drive, and explosion proof direct drive.

Plate Mount Mixers

The plate mount mixer is a popular tank mixer choice because it is economically priced. They are also a great fit for tank tops with 2 C-channels. The ease of mounting a plate mount mixer makes it a very accommodating product. The plate on these tank mixers are most commonly constructed in a 12 X 12, 16 X 16, or a customized plate size. It can also conveniently attach to a large quantity of tank tops. Although the plate mount mixer is a more affordable option, it is still designed for heavy duty mixing with a flange mounted support bearing and all welded construction. Plate mount mixers are also capable of being highly customized for a specific application. Customization options can include a variety of impellers, particular length shafts, and multiple gear ratios. Other options can include types of motors and horsepower such as electric direct drive, air direct drive, variable speed direct drive, and explosion proof direct drive.

Tri-Clamp Mount Mixers

The tri-clamp mixer is a type of tank mixer that is highly sought after for sanitary applications. This sanitary mixer features extreme durability and versatility that can be utilized in the most sterile environments. This mixer can include other features such as a mechanical seal rated for sterile environments and a shaft welded stainless steel propeller. The tri-clamp mixer is also easily maintained with it’s easily cleanable surfaces and lightweight construction. Tri-clamp mixers are also capable of being highly customized for a specific applications. Customization options can include a variety of impellers, particular length shafts, and multiple gear ratios. Other options can include types of motors and horsepower such as electric direct drive, air direct drive, variable speed direct drive, and explosion proof direct drive.
